Philosophy
At Semillitas Bilingues we see children as seeds who will grow to be beautiful and strong flowers. In order for these seeds to grow, they need to be cared for and nurtured. Children are careless, fearless, and adventurous little people. We nurture their self-efficacy by guiding them and allowing them to do things for themselves, which allows them to make mistakes, the mistakes that will teach them, to persevere when one does not succeed, to be resilient, and to value their abilities and not just the parents or educators abilities. As early care educators, we have the potential to influence a child’s young mind. We believe that each child is unique and that no two are alike. Children have a mind of their own; they see themselves as capable individuals
Early Child Education
Our role as early care educators at Semillitas Bilingues is to guide children to grow into productive citizens and neighbors, but most importantly to cultivate the “childhood” in them. A “childhood’ that is now being lost as early as an elementary school due to all the “to-do lists”, our culture has succumbed to. Knowing that each child is a unique person and helping them to discover their full potential in every area of development is our goal. We do this by allowing our Semillitas to guide the way, we will never force a child to sit down to learn and produce. Learning comes naturally when the environment is nurturing and enticing. Semillitas Bilingues believes that the role of a teacher goes beyond the classroom; we become mentors and an extended part of a child’s family. We also believe in the importance of a well-rounded learning environment and Language Immersion to teach Spanish.
